Man or Lizard???

Born Eric Sprague in 1972, the Lizardman was one of the first people to have a split tongue, some say he's the one who made it popular. This 37 year old man has transformed himself into a reptile. These looks do not come easy, or cheap for that matter. He's had 700 hours of tattooing, five Teflon horns implanted beneath the skin of his eyebrows, filing down of his teeth into sharp fangs, bifurcation (splitting) of his tongue, and stretching of his septum and earlobes. He is a registered "freak" (as tattooed on his chest), and spends his time performing numerous sideshow acts (sword swallowing, fire eater/breather, walks beds of nails, and an act known as "blockhead"). You may see him from time to time, on his many highly paid tv and personal appearances, but be slow to judge. As the age-old saying goes: "Do not judge a book by its cover," no truer words could ever be spoken. On the surface, you see a Circus Act...but looks may be deceiving. In reality, before he was a "lizardman", Eric is actually a PhD. and attended the University of Albany where he went on to attain his Bachelor's of Arts degree in Philosophy. So, remember to be slow to judge, because you never know who people REALLY are.

Ships A'hoy!!

The world's largest cruise ship is Royal Carribean's Oasis of the Seas. The ship contains 28 ultra-modern loft suites and 2,700 spacious staterooms, and a 16-deck marvel. This 5,400 passenger ship is not just a cruise ship, it is also the location of the "whodunit" ((who-done-it)) myster cruise. Passengers on the ship can participate in an interactive mystery that they can help solve.  The cost to participate in the Whodunit mystery aboard Oasis in April is $129 per person, in addition to the cost of the cabin. Cabins on the sailing currently start at $890 per person. Although, if you do not participate in it, feel free to enjoy your 7 night cruise, sailing the western carribean. The regular trip includes destinations such as Jamaica, Mexico, and even to a private destination in Haiti, set aside especially for Royal Carribean's cruise line.

Go Fish?

Greg Bernal, an unemployed land-surveyor, and his girlfriend Janet Momphard, were fishing the Missouri River near the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area when the fish struck around 1 a.m. Tuesday. It would take the pair nearly a half-hour to heave the fish into their boat after reeling it in. The monster was caught on a 40 lb test line and a filet of Asian Carp was used for bait. This fish beat the previous record held in 2005 by 6 lbs.

Flying so-lo(w)!

The most dangerous airport in the world is Princess Juliana International Airport in Saint Maarten. It is the second busiest airport in the Eastern Caribbean, and is famous for its short landing strip — only 7,152 ft, which is barely enough for heavy jets. Because of this, the planes approach the island flying extremely low, right over Maho Beach. Countless photos of large jets flying at 30-60 ft over relaxing tourists at the beach have been dismissed as fakes many times, but are nevertheless real. For this reason as well it has become a favorite for planespotters. Despite all the uproar about this poorly thought out airport, there have been no major accidents or incidents reported.

SNAKES!!!

Im not "terrified" by snakes, but, if i saw this one, I'd probably freak out. You've probably seen a water mocassin, or a garden snake slithering around your neighborhood. Although you may think these snakes are pretty big, the largest snakes are the anacondas. The largest anaconda ever measured was almost 28 feet long, a girth of 44 inches, and estimated by scientists to be weighing over 500 lbs. The other snake that competes with the anaconda is the Asiatic Reticulated Python. The python holds the world's record for length of a snake, with the longest ever measured at 33 feet. Even though the longest python is longer than the record-holding anaconda, the girth of the anaconda is far bigger. I'd hate to run into one of these slithering creatures!

coffee, Coffee, COFFEE!!!

Feeling kind of tired? groggy? or do you just need that extra boost to get you through the day? You might wanna reach for the nearest cup of coffee. If this is your closest cup, you might want to reconsider, unless you're carrying quite a bit of cash on you. This cup of coffee is the Most expensive coffee in the world. Originating in Indonesia, Kopi Luwak is made from eaten coffee beans, that have been partly digested, and finally excreted by the native Common Palm Civet. This weasel-like animal, referred to as "luwak", eats the raw red coffee beans. it digests the soft outer shell but does not digest the inner beans, thus excreting them.
This process changes the bitter flavor of the beans to a more unique and desirable flavor. Indonesian coffee or "Kopi", can cost up to $600 a pound and up to $50 per cup!Unless you have a pocket full of cash, I'd head over to the nearest Starbucks and pick up something a "little" more recession-friendly.

Trash? or Fashion?

Gary Harvey is the former Creative Director of Levi Strauss and Dockers Europe designer for Levi's. His first collection of eco-designs was showcased in February of this year at London Fashion Week for Estethica. Estethica is "the hotspot for ethical fashion, where designers will show collections founded on ecological and organic principles." This dress was made with cans, bottle tops and cardboard boxes. World's Most Tattooed Women!!

Julia Gnuse got her first tattoo at the age of 35 steadily gaining more ink over the next 20 years. Some of Gnuse's tattoos seem like odd choices to have permanently inked to her body. Some of the tattoos include Doctor Seuss's Cat in the Hat, and pictures of the entire cast of Bewitched across her buttocks.
Gnuse first started getting tattoos, not because of a simple fashion statement, but as a way of dealing with Porphyria, a skin condition she was suffering from. Now, she has enough tattoos to completely cover 95% of her body.

World's Biggest Shark

Whale sharks are the largest sharksin the world. Growing to a length of about 65 feet (the length of about 1 1/2 school buses!) and weighing about 75,000 pounds, this streamlined fish is really a gentle giant. Some areas frequented by these sharks, such as Ningaloo Reef, Australia, have become popular tourist destinations because of their swim-with-sharks program.

HERO MUCH?!?!

BEFORE:

 AFTER:

In March of 2001, Jason Schechterle, a young, 28-year-old, Phoenix officer who was horribly burned in a crash involving a taxi cab driver who, while driving, suffered a seizure.A speeding taxi – piloted by a driver who was suffering a seizure – struck the officer’s car (stopped at a redlight) from behind at a speed approaching 100 miles an hour.As the fire fighters pulled the young officer from the crushed and still burning vehicle they wondered if they had done him a favor. When Officer Schechterle was wheeled in, the doctors were stunned at his condition. The burns were much worse than they thought. The officer’s face and head were destroyed by fourth degree burns. As the doctors continued to remove layer after layer of skin, they realized that it would leave the officer with no living tissue and literally no face. In the morning, doctors saw that his eyelids and eyebrows were gone, and so was most of his nose and ears. He had no cheeks or forehead, no skin whatsoever.
Today he speaks to burn victims and works on behalf of charitable organizations, inspiring others by his own struggle and survival.

On 29 December 2009, a young Chinese woman broke the guiness world record as the woman with the longest eyelashes in the world. Scientists hypothesize that the growth of eyelashes is the result of side effect of the drug that she consumes. After consumption, the side effects have obviously drastically changed her appearance. People are constantly astonished and still confused on how she can even see!

World's Ugliest Dog!

Sam is one of the most famous Worlds Ugliest Dog winners (2003-2005), as well as being unofficially proclaimed as the “Ugliest Dog Ever”. Sam was a purebred hairless Chinese Crested owned by Susie Lockheed of Santa Barbara, CA. He was first taken in as a temporary rescue dog. Many people deemed him “un-adoptable” because of his age, looks and temperament. He spent several long days caged in order to become re-socialized. Sam was released from his cage and became one of the pack of other hairless dogs that Susie Lockheed owned. Unfortunately, after 15 long lived years, Sam had heart failure, and was euthanized in November of 2005. Sam was unofficially proclaimed as the “Ugliest Dog Ever”.
